Hole 1
A true test of accuracy straight off the 1st tee box measuring 449m off the championship tee. Your first drive has to be accurate as the water looms on the left hand side of the fairway and the veld grass on the right. Once you have positioned your ball safely in the fairway you still have a difficult approach into the well bunkered and undulating green. Make 4 here and your round is underway.
Hole 2
A short par 4 played straight uphill is next on the agenda. Once again you need to be accurate off the tee which will leave you 130m approach into this undulating green. Always remember to take one extra club as it is severely uphill. Definitely a hole where par must be made.
Hole 3
Also a short par 4 played downhill which provides you with an excellent opportunity for a birdie. Keep your tee shot on the right hand side of the fairway and a short pitch to the green will set the birdie up.
Hole 4
This is regarded as the feature hole at Graceland. Despite being a short par 5, accuracy and course management is imperative. The tee shot for the average golfer will be with a 3 wood to the left half of the fairway. Your second shot is a daunting one as there are two streams which need to be carried. The correct way would be to lay up just short of the second stream leaving 150m to the green. For the longer hitter you can go for it in two but the dam all the down the right hand side is intimidating and the well bunkered green is a challenging and undulating one. Make par here and you have gained a few shots on the field.
Hole 5
This is a short par 4 and is truly a birdie hole. Keep your tee shot left of the fairway bunker and you will have a short iron into the green. The green is well bunkered but this is definitely a birdie opportunity.
Hole 6
The first par 3 on the course and it is a tough one. Only 164m off the club tee but the green is well bunkered and has a water hazard from the left side all the way round the back of the green. Once on the putting surface your work is not done yet as there are a host of slopes to deal with. Walk off with a par and you will be satisfied.
Hole 7
Stroke 1 and truly a test to your golfing ability. The hole plays at 402m and there is a large dam all the way down the right hand side. The severe tough on the left hand side demands the most accurate tee shot. From here you will be looking at a 150m shot into a kidney shaped green which is protected by a large bunker and a water hazard. Make four here and you have picked up a few shots on the field.
Hole 8
A good test of course management is required here. For the average golfer this is a three shot par 5. There are 3 pot bunkers to contend with from your tee shot and a stream for your second shot. The green is one of the most demanding on the course and you need the touch of a pick pocket to ensure par here.
Hole 9
A superb par 3 just before lunch. The hole measures 182m from the back tee with water surrounding the undulating green. Once again a par on this hole and you have made a great achievement.
Hole 10
This is a relatively straight for short par 5. Your tee shot again needs to be pin point accurate but from there you are able to reach the green in two and a birdie is on the cards.
Hole 11
A short but yet demanding par 4 is up next. With your tee shot been a mid iron or hybrid lay up leaving yourself a 120m into the green. Your approach can not be short as the stream is most definitely in play with a slope running towards the water. Again a short par 4 but you need to manage your way through this hole as one bad shot will be leaving you with a double bogey on the card.
Hole 12
Next up is a short par 3 of only 145m from the club tee marker. The green is well guarded with bunkers but you can certainly call it a scoring opportunity. Anything more than par and you have lost a shot to the field.
Hole 13
We now come to a dog leg right par 4 played uphill into a 3 tiered green. Despite been a short par 4 your accuracy is required on each and every shot. Make par here and you will be pleased.
Hole 14
Next up a par 5 with every chance of making birdie. The hole is reachable but once again pin point accuracy is required. There is a fairway bunker in play for most on the left hand side and water all the way down the right. In order to make birdie your approach must be to an exacting length as the green is 43m from the front to the back.
Hole 15
Again a gem of a par 3. If the pin is located on the right hand side you need to carry the water all they way down. Again this is a large and undulating green and missing your tee shot on the wrong side will certainly bring a 3 putt bogey into play.
Hole 16
This is a true test to your accuracy and distance. Once again an uphill hole making difficult to judge your approach shot into the green. The green is 3 tiered and runs from back to front, so make sure that you leave yourself an uphill putt otherwise a bogey or more can be made here.
Hole 17
Still recovering from the 16th and a extremely difficult stroke 2 is up nest. This par 4 requires the accuracy off the tee as there are two fairway bunkers looming to catch the stray tee shot. From here you will be left with a mid to long iron into a small narrow green. Make four here and you gain a few on your competitor’s.
Hole 18
A short yet difficult par 4 is the closing hole just before you have time for that refreshing ale in the 19th hole. A hybrid or 3 wood play off the tee for positioning will leave you with a short iron into the well guarded green. A 4 is certainly on the cards here and a great way to finish of a great day spent with us at Graceland.
