Located in Secunda, Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club has promoted Pieter de Villiers to General Manager, responsible for overseeing the successful day-to-day operations and profitability of the resort. Boasting 22 years’ experience with Peermont, De Villiers takes on this new role with clear objectives of what he hopes to achieve for the resort. “Graceland has always stood out from its competitors from a service excellence perspective, which I commit to uphold in my new role. I am particularly excited about managing the upgrade of our core facilities, including our children’s entertainment areas in the near future,” he says. “I have also made it my mission to re-establish Graceland as the ultimate leisure and entertainment destination in Mpumalanga, and a major contender in South Africa’s hospitality industry.”

De Villiers first joined Graceland in the early 1990s working in Surveillance as a Shift Manager. He quickly progressed to become Surveillance Manager, and then to his most recent position as the resort’s Surveillance and Security Manager, before being promoted to General Manager. “I’ve worked with many leaders and mentors during my time with Peermont, and have observed their different leadership and management styles along the way. Their lessons and examples have given me a diverse and well-rounded understanding of the different roles and responsibilities, not only as a member of the Peermont family, but within the hospitality and gaming industry as a whole,” he says.

“This promotion is a huge personal achievement for me, and an absolute dream come true. Being the General Manager of a resort that I have dedicated so much of my energy and passion to over the years is an honour. It just proves that dedication, loyalty and hard work definitely pays off,” De Villiers concludes.
