The Southern Highveld Community Development Trust (SHCDT) was established by Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club and gives young, budding earners the opportunity to further their education.

Bursary Selection Criteria

Area
Beneficiaries are to be selected from the Gert Sibande area.

Course choice
Although beneficiaries may select a course of their choice, the onus is on them to prove suitability to said course. The trustees may decline a bursary if the course is deemed unsuitable or may not lead to eventual employment.

Academic requirements
Due to the high failure rates at Universities, the beneficiaries’ academic record should reflect a minimum of 3 “7’s”, with at least a “6” for English.

Means test
The bursary is intended for disadvantaged students, therefore potential candidates may be asked to provide proof of income. Beneficiaries household income should not be more than R3 000 per month.

Characteristics
The beneficiary should demonstrate a high level of intelligence as well as the following characteristics:
integrity, ambition, strong leadership, motivated, pro-active and an integral sense of self.
