For Mandela Day Graceland partnered with the MyOwnCup project to make a difference in the Embalenhle community. The MyOwnCup project replaces a sanitary pad which for most underprivileged is a monthly expense which most struggle to afford. MyOwnCup is a new initiative which promotes wellbeing and health of young girls and is also environmentally friendly and cost effective.

Graceland commenced the 3 day project with an educational presentation hosted at Graceland with the Life Orientation teachers on 17 July. On Mandela Day, 18 July, the team visited 5 schools in Embalenhle to educate the young grade 7 female learners about MyOwnCup. On 19 July, the team visited 4 more schools in Embalenhle.

A total of 750 MyOwnCups will be handed out valued at R150 000.
